Yes that's my term of endearment for all of the kiddies in my life. It all started with the show the Rugrats that used to air on YTV. My younger bros used to watch it growing and up and I fell in love with Pickles kids especially the characters Tommy and the twins Phil and Lil. They were simply too cute for words and made my aww at the each time I watched an episode. I then fell in love with the word rugrats and then started calling my little cousins "mice" in Punjabi and translated would be rugrats. So now when there is ever a kid in site they are automatically associated with the word and the love that I would have for them! so all of you rugrats out there beware of Auntie Ruby as she may nibble on your little fingers and toes!

EKKK so excited and soooo happy for my best friend A and her hubby P on the arrival of their precious little twins aka rugrats! A and A are simply stunning and soooo adorable that words can't even explain how happy I am for their arrival. And what an arrival it was - from receiving the phone call that the day had arrived and super quick to the phone call that they were both here safe and sound. I've know my bestie since grade 5 and its been such a great friendship, experience and journey all of these years but this marks a whole new chapter in all of our lives. To see your best friend as a mother of two beautiful children is so sureal and so amazing that I can't even start to explain the feeling. There is one thing that is for certain that those rug rats will be loved dearly and to pieces - can't wait to see them again and oogle and ahh over thier awesomeness!

Kate Winslet in Yves Saint Laurent looks like perfection~

Penelope Cruz in Donna Karan Couture she is beautiful but the color is not popping and the hair once again is ok - there's something missing for me.

Sandra Bullock in Marchesa is simply the best dressed of the night. Sandy looks stunning from her simple hair, old hollywood makeup and dress. Bravo!

Mariska Hargitay in Vera Wang simply stunning!

Anna Kendrick in Elie Saab Haute Couture - someone needs to fire her stylist not for the dress but for putting her in this dreaded color - she's young and fresh and this color washes her out..

Amanda Seyfried in Armani Prive - the dress beautiful but once again the color washes her out and she's not working it!

Zoe Saldana in Givenchy - now this is what young hollywood should dress in, hot color, daring dress that is unconventional yet intriguing.

Carey Mulligan in Prada - this dress is so unique and young that she reminds me of Twiggy...love the statement earrings as well.

Miley Cryus in Jenny Packham - I'm on the fence about this one cause her hair and makeup look great and the bottom of the dress is stunning but the corset type top is not that great on her - she didn't stand with confidence on the red carpet in that dress.

Tina Fey in Michael Kors - love her and the dress not such a fan of the soccer mom hair though.

SJP in Chanel - there's something about the dress that screams old hollywood yet on SJP it's not doing the trick. Hate the hair and the makeup is a bit severe on her.

Diane Kruger looked stuning, fresh, different and willing to take a risk - just like her role.

Rachel McAdams in Elie Saab Haute Couture she looks and reminds me of summer - loves it!

BC where do I begin!

Hey folks! Sorry about being mia on the blog but if I had my pc the updates on here would be frequent trust me! I think I need to invet in a lappy! Anywho, where do I begin - the buzz in BC is keeping me going! So many ppl from all over the world so passionate about sport and all coming together for one cause and reason - the olympics. Yes I know many think that they are corrupt or globalized and political if you will - but they do bring the world closer together and that is what matters at the end of the day. We haven't focused on bombings, wars, suicides or anything else that makes you question humanity for 17 days! With that I say bring on the olympics, the fans, athletes and the world. Loving the feeling here, everynight is a party in the downtown core of Robson and Grandville - breaking out in Oh Canada on the middle of the street is not an odd sound. Giving high fives to strangers or even smiling at all the red and white gear along with the flags makes you feel proud! More when I get back - sitting at earls right now soaking in all of the post men's hockey game win and coming off high from the mens speed skating finals!

Winter Olympics BC 2010

The Vancouver 2010 Olympics have arrived! Well they arrived on Friday Feb 11th but you get what I'm saying. I've been waiting over 2 years for this moment to arrive since - Bejing 2008 ! I'll be departing for good old BC tomorrow night and taking part in the excitment, vibe and crazyness that the city has to offer. Been following my buddies that are already there and they are having a blast! I can't wait to get there and share all of the comings and goingings of the games!

Here is a recap of the medals so far...in case you haven't been keeping up with my FB status updates: 2-2-1 = 5 medals so far

Day 1 - Jennifer Heil won Silver in women's freestyle moguls! She was amazing and was flanked on the podium by two americans - blah!

Day 2 - Kristina Groves won Bronze in the women's 3,000 metres long-track speedskating - I misse this event but she is one kick ass chick!

Day 3 - Alexandre Bilodeau won the first Gold medal on Candian soil in men’s moguls! He blew the compettition away and if you know his back story it makes his victory even sweeter. Look up his brother Fredrick Bilodeau...

Day 4 - Mike Roberts won Silver in snowboarding! Another great performance by an athlete that made it look so easy.

Day 5 - Maell Ricker won Gold in women's snowboard cross! She killed the competition and did a clean sweep winning her medal.

So on to Day 6 today - woot woot!

For a year that has had many ups and downs it’s been one hell of a roller coaster ride indeed! From a number of events those were so refreshing like the air on a fresh crisp fall morning to days where you do not want to get out of bed no matter what. Life has many circumstances that arise along with coincidences that are so mind boggling that it makes you question even further....and yes December has been one of those months that I wish would just disappear and be forgotten altogether. I am looking forward to 2010 - to a fresh new day, month, year and decade that will bring much more hope and joy. I wish that this month didn't have to end the way it has because it's left a bad taste in every one's mouths....but that's the journey of life that we live - take the good with the bad and become much stronger for it.

I guess that was due to the fact that the last month was super packed with great events such as an engagement, to a wedding, to numerous birthdays to experiencing the most awesome concert EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRR U2 baby! Yes that's right folks I was lucky enough to go with my my u2, brother and bff - we scored great tickets and had a brilliant time. Nine by Rob Marshall is a musical a musical re-telling of Federico Fellini's semi-autobiographical "8 and a half". It tells the story of Guido Contini (Daniel Day-Lewis), a world famous famous film director as he confronts an epic mid-life crisis with both creative and personal problems. He must balance the many women of his life, including his wife (Marion Cotillard), his mistress (Penelope Cruz), his film star muse (Nicole Kidman), his confidant and costume designer (Judi Dench), an American fashion journalist (Kate Hudson), the whore from his youth (Fergie) and his mother (Sophia Loren).

The original 1982 Broadway production of NINE, with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston, won five Tony Awards including Best Musical.

I cannot wait to see this movie!

With the collaboration of musician Daniel Larsson, Tomas produced a stop-motion film where the 80's collide and play homage to a form of great entertainment!

of Vogue of course! This is the bible for all fashionists around the world (well in Candada and the US)! And there is a documentery movie coming out with the queen bee herself Anna Wintour. Who the eff is Anna you ask? Well she is the editor-in-chief of Vouge. She is also the same person that was "loosely" based on the character that Meryl Streep played in the Devil Wears Prada (which won Meryl her 14th Oscar). So if you have an inclinig for fashion and want to see the genuis behind this fashion bible go out and watch the movie in September (select theatres) and don't forget to buy your copy of Vogue!

It's for this issue, the one that launches the all-important fall season, that the top magazines pull out their biggest guns for splashy stories and breathtaking photo shoots, all in an effort to excite consumers browsing glossy pages on their last days at the beach.

"Fall sets the tone more. There's nothing more different from wearing a bikini in August to buying a coat and looking forward to wearing it," says Joanna Coles, editor in chief of Marie Claire.

Even though most fashion magazines have readers well beyond their back-to-school days, the mentality lingers. And the fall season is usually a shopper's biggest fashion financial outlay because the items are substantial and sturdy: coats, boots, suits and dresses, says Sally Singer, Vogue's fashion news director.

"The September issue is when people plot their wardrobe. It's the equivalent of a Christmas wish list," she says.

The September issue of 2007 was Vogue's biggest in its 117-year history, and it provides the backdrop to RJ Cutler's new documentary, "The September Issue," about the inner workings of the fashion bible.

That issue had Sienna Miller on the cover; this year it is Charlize Theron. And September 2009 is no September 2007. Vogue has shrunk, as have all the other biggies, as luxury advertisers pull back during the recession.

Still, Vogue has managed to find many trends to tout, including interesting coats, big hair, decorated faces and over-the-knee boots. It has an interview with South Carolina first lady Jenny Sanford, who likens her husband's affair to pornography addiction or alcoholism and says it's up to him "to do the soul-searching" to determine their future.

The big story throughout is Fashion's Night Out, an Anna Wintour brainchild that aims to get designers and celebrities in stores with consumers on Sept. 10. (Wintour writes that's she'll spend the evening at a Macy's in Queens.)

Interesting concept for a movie - Aliens that are refugees on Earth. I had no expectations when we watched it as it was just a game time decision. However, the movie did make me think about the situations in third world countires and how we treat our fellow human beings in refugee camps etc. Also, how easy it is for a person to change thier mind and thinking once they are placed in a dire situation. Not bad for a summer movie that was made by a first time director and producer if I recall correctly. Further to that it was presented by Peter Jackson so to have a name such as his attached to your little underground, viral advertised movie it should have some clout.

Oh California how I heart thee

Well back from my va-cay and reality is begining to set in. Oh California how I heart thee. We all had a wonderful time at my cousin's wedding in the Bay - Hella Heart the Bay *winks* and a grand old time!

Highlights include - the wedding in good old Union City and Modesto (and meeting my cousins' wife), drive down to Santa Rosa (wine country), shopping excursions in San Fran, driving on the world's croocked street - Lobard, checking out the Golden Gate Bridge. However, most notably the drive down Highway 1 from San Fran to LA with various stops along the way at such places as Santa Cruise Pier, San Luis Obispo, Big Sir, Carmel, Monterey, Sand City, Seaside and many more. It was great to hit up LA with my bros and cousins with the drive along Mullhonland Drive (peeping into very beautiful homes along the route), checking out the Hollywood sign, randomly bumping into Dustin Lance Black at a Starbucks in West Hollywood, checking out the various stuidios, hitting up Venice (aka Muscle beach), Santa Monica Pier, having dinner at this cute little lounge, driving along Sunset Blvd and Rodeo Drive, walking along the walk of fame and taking pics of Michael Jackon's star to name a few. Yes that was the worst run on sentence ever but you know me and trying to get out every word!

So much more to talk about but you get the picture - take a trip to California, rent a car and just drive drive drive! Can't wait till our next trip down!

One thing that I will never forget is the time spent with our family and all the cousins - as these are memories that will last years and stories that we will be telling our children one day. Can't wait until our reunion next June!

ALL THE LONELY PEOPLE by Kate Carraway

Imagine a day in the life of a couple you probably know. He’s 27 years old, and she’s 26. They wake up beside each other in his downtown bachelor apartment and have sex that neither of them particularly enjoys. They’ve been sort-of dating for a while now, but they’re not willing to commit to each other: He likes her but doesn’t know if he always will. She can’t decide if she likes him more or less than the other two guys she’s sleeping with.

He bikes to work at an advertising agency, where he uses his masters in English to proofread ad copy, and spends several hours reading music blogs and watching movie trailers, periodically Twittering updates about his workday to his 74 followers. He doesn’t really hate his job, but he feels as if his skin is crawling with vermin most of the time that he’s there, so he has a plan to move to Thailand, or to maybe write a book. Or go to law school.

At her government job, she instant messages her friends and mostly ignores the report she’s drafting because she’s planning on quitting anyway—and has been planning to quit for about a year now. She spends her lunch hour buying boots that cost slightly more than her rent, then immediately regrets it.

He listlessly works through lunch, then goes to the bar after work to meet up with some friends, where they talk about their jobs and make ironic jokes about other people. Back at home, he wonders why he feels so gross and empty after spending time with them, but it’s mostly better than being alone.

She walks to the house that she shares with three friends and spends a few more hours on celebrity gossip Web sites, then clicks through the Facebook photos of girls she knew in high school posing with their husbands and babies, simultaneously judging them and feeling a deep pit of jealousy, and a strange kind of loss. “When did this happen for them?” she wonders.

They both eventually fall asleep, late and alone, each of them wondering what it is that’s wrong with them that they can’t quite seem to understand.

This phenomenon, known as the “Quarterlife Crisis,” is as ubiquitous as it is intangible. Unrelenting indecision, isolation, confusion and anxiety about working, relationships and direction is reported by people in their mid-20s to early 30s who are usually urban, middle class and well-educated; those who should be able to capitalize on their youth, unparalleled freedom and free-for-all individuation. They can’t make any decisions, because they don’t know what they want, and they don’t know what they want because they don’t know who they are, and they don’t know who they are because they’re allowed to be anyone they want.

When a contemporary 25-year-old’s parents were 25, they weren’t concerned with keeping their options open: They were purposefully buying houses, making babies and making partner. Now, who we are and what we do is up to us, unbound to existing communities, families and class structures that offer leisure and self-determination to just a few. Boomer and post-boom parents with more money and autonomy than their predecessors have resulted in benignly self-indulgent children who were sold on their own uniqueness, place in the world and right to fulfillment in a way no previous generation has felt entitled to, and an increasingly entrepreneurial, self-driven creation myth based on personal branding, social networking and untethered lifestyle spending is now responsible for our identities.

Acknowledged for the first time in 2001, the Quarterlife Crisis has been written about most notably by Alexandra Robbins and Abby Wilner in the New York Times best-seller Quarterlife Crisis: The Unique Challenges of Life in Your Twenties. The themes of 20-something ennui are everywhere in pop culture (Garden State; Lost in Translation), but it’s also been explicitly addressed. On Gossip Girl, Blair Waldorf explains some bad behavior with, “I was such an overachiever, I was headed for a Quarterlife Crisis at 18”; in John Mayer’s song “Why Georgia,” he sings, “I rent a room and I fill the spaces with wood in places to make it feel like home but all I feel’s alone / It might be a Quarterlife Crisis or just the stirring in my soul”; Quarterlife was a successful Web series about seven 20-somethings with creative tendencies. There’s also a terrible metal band from Long Island called Quarterlife Crisis who look like an apathetic version of Insane Clown Posse.

“The Quarterlife Crisis is a kind of anticipatory crisis,” says Michael Kimmel, a sociologist and author of Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men. “‘How is my life going to turn out? I don’t have a clue; I don’t have a map; I don’t have a vision for it.’ The midlife crisis is a kind of ‘Is this it? I had a big plan, I had big ideas. Now I’m 48, and I guess I won’t get to do those things.’ The midlife crisis is understood as one of resignation. A Quarterlife Crisis will resolve itself by hooking itself into a plan.” What this plan could be, though, might be vague or feel altogether impossible to create.

Attempts to manage the Quarterlife Crisis might be as banal as drinking a lot, doing a bunch of drugs, sleeping with idiots and myriad other kinds of self-flagellation, but broader attempts are made to find some sense of purpose. An obvious choice for panicking 20-somethings with a post-undergraduate sense of displacement and for the ones who aren’t fulfilled by their jobs is grad school. “Quarterlife Crises are the reason that so many universities have turned lower-level graduate programs into a cash cow,” says James, a 28-year-old student. Graduate and professional school can provide a direction and delay other choices about career and stability. And, while it’s true that higher education can “help students improve their personal and professional competency,” it can also “leave students feeling insecure about their abilities and their job prospects,” says Marc Scheer, who is a career counselor and educational consultant, the author of No Sucker Left Behind: Avoiding the Great College Rip-Off and an advocate for considering options beyond formal education. (He also has a Ph.D.) Scheer emphasizes making an informed choice. “Whether graduate school is a wise move depends on each individual student and what they want to study. Law school can be helpful, but mostly if a student can gain acceptance to a top-tier school. Getting a Ph.D. could be dangerous for some students, especially since Ph.D. graduation rates are obscenely low these days, and few tenure-track jobs are available. So it really depends.”

Among the implicit promises made to this generation of 20-somethings was they would have work that was engaging and creatively fulfilling. “You could always say the whole premise of education is that if you study, get good grades, acquire skills, you will have more options in a ‘career and life’ point of view,” says Prescott, a 27-year-old freelance graphic designer with a graduate degree who is struggling to find work. “If you get a degree, you don’t have to work in a factory or have to work in a farm. That’s proving to be a huge lie, because you have people coming out of school and there are just no jobs, especially in ‘middle-class’ fields.” The dissonance between a 20-something’s pre-career expectations and the dissatisfaction he or she feels as part of the working world can be hugely defeating. As Kimmel says, “They don’t have much of a life plan about how to move from Point A to Point B. What happens very often is they have very big ambitions, [but] there is a mismatch between their planning for their lives and their ambitions.” He also says that the conflict is made more difficult because 25-year-olds are living “in an economic environment which is the most inhospitable in our history.” David J. Rosen, the author of What’s That Job and How the Hell Do I Get It, a career guide based on interviews with young professionals with “cool” jobs across a variety of professions, says, “Generally, being happy at work is a huge part of having a happy life, and a cool and interesting job is one that leaves you fulfilled, not bitter, or not with that existential career angst that you were meant for ‘more than this.’”

Spending money is as fraught as making it. Multiple degrees, trips to Peru, and keeping up appearances on Saturday night all communicate values and desires, and having no consistent sense of “want” can reinforce the problem, often with a trail of debt. “As recently as the early 1990s, Americans had less than $10,000 of student loans on average. Now the average is over $20,000,” according to Anya Kamenetz, who is a 29-year-old staff writer at Fast Company magazine and the author of the book Generation Debt: Why Now is a Terrible Time to be Young. “As of about 2006, young people had $4,000 of credit-card debt on average, and those with debt were spending a quarter of their income on debt payments.” She continues, saying, “Debt and lower income can affect your choice of jobs. It can take longer to move out of your parents’ house or stop accepting those checks and become fully independent. And many young people find themselves asking the question: ‘Why haven’t I made more progress?’ It makes people feel like failures when really there are larger trends at work.” This is also, in part, what has led to the “boomerang” trend, where adult children move back in with their parents after leaving for school or work.

Scheer identifies another, more insidious problem with grad school, and with delaying career choices generally: “Graduate school presents some ‘opportunity costs’ in that students can’t work while they go to school. So, for example, someone who goes to medical school and doesn’t finish residency until their late 20s or early 30s won’t financially catch up to their friends until they are in their late 30s or early 40s, or later. These are all important factors to consider and not be unrealistically optimistic about.”

The Quarterlife Crisis remains largely a middle-class, Stuff White People Like kind of problem, and usually manifests itself where certain problematic social norms used to exist, like who had access to education and interesting work, and who was allowed adventure and self-determination. The 20-something void is, in large part, due to the important evolution of sexual equality, and when sex, relationships and family-building changes, everything does.

Kimmel says, of men in particular, “Part of the Quarterlife Crisis is a kind of malaise that the end of your youth is really the end of fun. And that you’re never going to have any fun again, because you have to work. You’re never going to have sex again because you’re going to get married. Your life is over.” So, why bother? Literal and figurative fucking around is infinitely more appealing to men who are still sorting out what they want their lives to look like.

“Grown-ups understand that the choices we make also involve choices we don’t make,” continues Kimmel. “We have some regrets, and we carry [those] with us. Guys don’t get a lot of help in this from each other or from our culture. Culturally we have got to show guys that the other side of this is actually terrific.” He points out that, statistically, married men are happier and have more sex, and that fathers experience lower levels of depression. Still, Kimmel says that very young marriage has the highest rate of divorce, and that men would do well to spend their unmarried years focused on their own growth, rather than Halo 3.

Women also find themselves conflicted, usually more than men, about the trajectory of their 20s as they relate to relationships. Sarah, who is 27 and works at a nonprofit, wants to travel and get a master’s degree but feels conflicted about doing either. “I want to have kids, and every day that goes by, I have this number in my head. It’s 32. It used to be 30. That’s only a few years from now. I’m thinking, if I don’t do some of this stuff now, before I have kids, am I going to be able to do it?” Women are roundly considered to be in biologically ideal form for baby-making in their 20s and early 30s, which are also prime fun-having and career-building years. For women who want all the things promised by (theoretically) equal education, work and sex lives, the conflict of desires can be catastrophic. “I feel tied down because of my job, but at the same time I feel that while I am single and young I should travel because I don’t have any obligations to other people, and it’s only going to get harder as I get older,” says Leah, a 26-year-old with a demanding corporate job. In the same vein, Sarah says, “Am I going to have regrets? Once you have kids, your opportunities are over. That’s probably not true. But everyone seems to change. All of the women who I work with who have kids, they change. Their priorities shift.” Sarah’s boyfriend doesn’t feel the same pressure. “He doesn’t have that kind of timeframe. He says, ‘I don’t even think about that.’ Of course you don’t think about it. . . . [Men] really don’t think about it.”

In 1973, the average age for women to get married was 23, and for men, 25. By 2003, the average age for both rose about five years, a significant change that reflects both marriage-free cohabitation and purposefully delaying serious commitment. It also means that 20-somethings are increasingly going it alone in their financial lives, where they would historically be building assets and houses and portfolios alongside their partner. Women, especially, are buying homes on their own. It also means that loneliness and isolation are far more likely, particularly when being separated from the close friendships that make up college life happens without a family or back-up community in place.

The emotional tumult reported during, or remembered after, a Quarterlife Crisis has a scarily ineffable quality. This isolation and its private anxiety are pervasive, as is a longing for the way things were in the predictably structured eras of high school and college. The directionlessness and resulting immobility is made worse when 20-somethings going through the crisis compare themselves to their peers, past and present, further convincing someone in the throes of it that they’re not only alone, but the worst kind of failure. Says Leah: “A lot of [my friends] are settling down and getting ready to take the next steps toward marriage and families, and it makes me question why I am not doing the same, and I realize that the amount of effort they put into finding a partner and getting married I put into my career. So how could I possibly have time for both?”

Twenty-somethings are also inundated with constant but mostly empty communication, as the primary social sphere exists increasingly online instead of in real life. Nothing could be more alienating to someone in the midst of a crisis than a tool like Facebook. Says James: “All sorts of half-forgotten acquaintances and abandoned friendships reappear in this spreadsheet of potential reasons to feel terrible about yourself. If you’re as petty as I am, you spend a lot of Facebook time gauging your own feelings of inadequacy in direct relation to other people’s success. All these people you couldn’t give a shit about a couple of years ago are now these omnipresent benchmarks and counterpoints to measure against whatever you have or haven’t got going on in your life.”

Adair, who is 30, found herself mired in a Quarterlife Crisis and sought professional help. “I worked with a life coach, and he helped me a lot to realize that I was creating a vicious cycle in my life. . . . It was a cycle with four different phases, and I’ve followed it basically throughout my life,” she says. “The steps were: I would get really excited about something, something new, something different, something stellar, big. I went off to school totally excited and ready for an awesome experience. Stage two would be like ‘Oh, this is it? This is kind of boring now.’ After one-and-a-half exciting and nonstop years, I realized that I wasn’t excited about being there anymore. Stage three would be, ‘What am I doing, why am I choosing to do this?’ In that third stage, I would inevitably have some type of breakdown, [which] usually consisted of crying and talking through the feelings of emptiness and boredom with a friend or family member. Then I would have kind of a breakthrough in that experience and get myself back up. At that point, I went abroad to Seville, Spain. . . . Now every time I’m faced with a change or new situation or find myself bored, I ask myself if this is a part of the cycle, or is this genuinely how I’m feeling.”

Having so much—youth, ability, independence—can feel like the worst possible scenario. What remains, though, is the potential for the years with anxiety and without direction to be reclaimed. Scheer sees real opportunity here. “If you feel you’re in crisis, this is a great opportunity to draft a five-year plan with steady concrete goals to help you get to where you want to be. Anyone can transform their life in just a few years.” Kimmel says, “There is life on the other side of this, and it’s actually a pretty good one. Growing up may be hard to do, but in the end, the gains outweigh the losses.” In other words: It might just be time to grow the fuck up.

However, I was very lucky to have the most Interesting Man in the World hook me up with a Blackberry Bold! This gaget, invention, personal secretary is the best thing since sliced bread. Having everything at the tip of your fingers can of course be a detrement but a very handy tool all at the same time. I'm one of those users that BB messages co-workers that are snoring on the Go Train - yes you know who you are!, MSN messages geeks while resolving an issue at work, Facebook pokes friends while sitting on the loo, and the list goes on. To those of you Apple iPhone users - grow up and join the big leagues with the QWERTY keyboard at the tip of your fingers!

You are what you eat? Ever hear of that phrase well it is so very true! A lot of people compliment me, are shocked or interested in the fact that I am a vegetarian. I have been once since 1994 when my friends and I decided that we would save the animals and not eat them. Simple enough eh? Well yes it is why would you eat a helpless animal that has no say in what you do to them or treat them and have no voice to say anything. Regardless, I'm not a meatetarian hater - but everyone has a choice and I respect that. With that being said you should be more careful these days about what you eat, especially since there has been so many outbreaks of food infection and bacteria at meat processing plants etc. Shocking I know - especially in this day and age where we have technology to create artificial hearts but have not figured out how to clean a machine or table top to prevent infection.

There is a film coming out on June 12th called Food Inc. It features one of the best food writers out there - Michael Pollan who also wrote the following books:
Author of In Defense of Food: An Eater's Manifesto, The Omnivore's Dilemma: A Natural History of Four Meals.

I took a food course in university and our prof introduced us to Michael Pollan. The course taught us that we have too many choices when it comes to food, are not aware of the artificial ingredients and mutations of foods along with corn being the staple. You are made out of corn - really I'm not kidding you! Corn lurking, in the high fructose corn syrup, or HFCS, that sweetens the pop, ketchup, relish, special sauce, faux dairy shake and salad dressing. Oh and don't forget the fryer oil, in the starch, in the binding agents, the corn-fed chicken ah the list goes on and on.

Did you know that there are 45,000 items in the average supermarket, and more than a quarter of them contain corn - eekk soon we will be walking around with stalks growing out of our heads. Reason for the post - if you must ask is for you to be aware of what you eat and how you treat your body. yes I know that it is obvious but try to eat foods that are locally grown, not processed and rich in color :)

I hope that you had a fabulous mothers day and got to spend some quality time with your mom. I miss my mommy and can't wait till she gets back - only 20 more days to go. However, I had a great mother's day as I talked to my mommy and had a heart to heart with her. I then called my other substitute mommies and wished them a great day as got the opportunity to chill with one of them. Last but not least I got to help celebrate Roonie's first b-day with a fab mom, no other then Lena herself.

What it's about: Fearing deportation to her native Canada, a book editor hastily arranges to marry her American assistant and then must prove it's valid in the eyes of suspicious officials.

Why you'll see it: Despite a few recent flops, Bullock remains one of Hollywood's most bankable female stars, especially when she sticks with romantic comedies like this. Canadians may also be amused to see her pretend to be one of us while starring opposite Reynolds, a genuine Canuck.

What it's about: The Earth once again becomes the host planet for the interplanetary war between sentient, shape-shifting machines. Can a young nerd save us?

Why you'll see it: Michael Bay's 2007 adaptation of the toy-and-toon franchise was a triumph of special effects over content. But hey, at least the FX were spectacular.

What it's about: John Dillinger and other famous gangsters of the Prohibition era face off against Melvin Purvis and the feds.

Why you'll see it: Since no director can pull off a movie heist with the same panache as Michael Mann, this period thriller by the maker of Miami Vice should feature the very best in bank jobs.

Who's in it: Sacha Baron Cohen

What it's about: A gay Austrian fashion reporter leaves a trail of chaos in his oh-so-fabulous wake.

Why you'll see it: With Borat, Cohen fearlessly took comedy to places it had never gone before (and maybe never should have). Brüno will surely inspire new laughs and lawsuits.

Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince

Who's in it: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson

What it's about: A certain young wizard nears the end of his time at Hogwarts as Dumbledore and his students gird themselves for coming confrontations with Voldemort.

Why you'll see it: Fans had even longer to wait when this sixth instalment of the Harry Potter series was postponed from its original release date of November 2008. Filmmakers took the extra time to fine-tune the franchise's penultimate entry, which features several sequences in IMAX 3D.

Felt like posting but I have no real content to post about so I shall ramble as that is what I seem to do best. There is a lot going on in my life right now with my friends and family - new love *wink wink*, engagements, babies and marriages. Life right now is all fitting into place or me and the ones around me, looking back to last year at this time I would not have imaginged all of the changes and things that have gone on. Funny how a day, week, month and year can change everything andy our perspective on life. I have always been a hopeful and optimist person and tried to live a life full of laughter and smiles, not on purpose but just being that way. As my best friend said - it takes much more energy to be mad at someone then to forgive hem and love them for who they are. We all come to points in our lives where we make mistakes, forget to call someone or what not but at the end of the day does that really matter in the grand scheme of things. The real reason as to why we are here today and reading what I'm writing right now - haha no not for you to read my blog entry and try to read between the lines but to step back in your busy lives and think and feel everything around you. Have you done that lately, huh have you? So my task for you today is for you to stop, look, feel, touch, hear and taste whatever it is around you and soak it all up. Happy Vaisakhi or Baisakhi! Today marks one of the most significant holidays in the Sikh calendar, commemorating the establishment of the Khalsa in 1699. Vaisakhi is celebrated by the Khalsa as their birthday every year, the day corresponding to the event when the Khlasa movement was established by Guru Gobind Singh in 1699.

To mark the celebrations, devotees, irrespective of their religion, throng at gurdwaras, the Sikh place of worship. The celebrations start early as devotees, with flowers and offerings in their hands, proceed towards the gurdwaras and temples before dawn. Processions through towns are also common. Vaisakhi is the day on which the Khalsa (The Pure Ones) was born and Sikhs were given a clear identity and a code of conduct to live by. The event was led by the last living Guru, Guru Gobind Singh Ji, who baptised the first Sikhs using sweet nectar called Amrit. Around the world at Vaisakhi time, Sikhs and Punjabis reflect on the values taught to them by their Gurus and celebrate the birth of the Khalsa.

As some of you know the "Sikh Parade" (walk from CNE to City Hall) that happens every year downtown in April is one that makes this occaion for the Sikhs in my community. I've been going to the Vaisakhi celebrations downtown for a number of years. I know that a lot of people cringe at the fact that we are literally holding a pararde for our religious day but I find it more then that. It's a time each year that our community gets together in large nubers and shows it's strength, sense of community and "seva"(selfless service)by having an open lunch if you will at City Hall each year. This years walk will be on Sunday, April 26th - can't wait!

Yes that's right ladies and gents, I'm in charge now! Of what you ask? My house! Well actually only for the time being as my mom had to go back to the motherland to take care of my granny. In lieu of these events I have been left in charge, no not my dad but me! Funny how that works eh? A women handing over the torch to the next woman and keeping that flame going. It's not like my dad and bros can't do anything and keep a household running its just that they are clueless. They are men! haha ok I kid I kid not all men out there are as clueless as them *wink wink* It's just that they will not take the time to step back and think of others such as leaving a sink full of dishes (urgg biggest pet peeve). This is when a woman being in charge comes into play. Case and point - cooking dinner! "WTF there is nothing to eat in this house" is the common banter that goes on every night between my bros and the kitchen Gods out there. Like really - get off your lazy arse and make something - hell microwave it if you will just feed yourself please. I know I know what you're thinking that this this behaviour did not appear overnight but was was perpetuated by my lovely mom to which I say - "When I have kids and a boy he will and be expected to take care of himself" dude seriously. Oh I can just see you keyboard warriors getting all amped about this blog entry and are formulating your thoughts about what to comment on. But seriously now how prepared are men for reality until they are thrown into this situation or until they move out of their parents home? If it were not for me (toot toot) they would be lying on the basement sofa, watching tv, drinking beer and ordering pizza - I've gotta keep them in check! As I've been playing house for the last couple of days or so I've realized that there is a lot that goes into making sure that all of the wheels work in unison (ok fine I do admit that I've had it easy up until now with my mommy just taking on a lot of the household duties such as paying bills, cleaning, cooking etc) and I guess that is where I've learned how to be a strong woman (toot toot) to see her ripping open the kitchen sink to fix a leaky drain pipe while my dad watches tv is just hilarious in itself but very empowering - so as my mommy attends to my granny - I will attend to her and make sure that the abode is still left standing upon her return!

It has finally arrived the time of year where you leave Winter behind and move onto Spring. It's time to shed your winter coats, mitts, hats, boots and to start dressing in wonderful bring colors for the *pending* warmer weather. Yippie I can't wait till the grass starts to grow green, flowers appear in gardens and birds chriping like there is no one listening. I love the feeling that you get when you go outside and have the sun kiss your face and the fresh breeze take to you to a warm place. But the best part of it is driving around with your sun roof open, music blasting and your car being nice and shiny - so enjoy this time of year and soak up the season!

Three years have flown by...

since my granny passed away! I still remember the last time I saw her which was in the hosptial before my trip. She just looked at me blankly as her stroke had taken the better of her talking functions away from her. But I know for a fact that she could process everything we said and what she felt when we hugged her. I told her that I was going away for a week and would be back soon and gave her a huge hug and told her that I loved her and gave her kiss on her adorable forehead. I'm glad that I will always have that memory with me. I really regretted not being by her side but I guess she was meant to go that way.

There is some saying or theory in our culture where if a loved one passes away when you are not around it means that they loved you more and did want to see you hurt. I guess me not being there to witness her last breathes was her being free to leave this world and move on - meh!

It does get easier as each year passes by not to be torn up inside with guilt and sadness that I was not by her bedside. As I reflect back on her life and involement in my life since the age of 6 or 7 was monumental. She was a great teacher, leaders, strong role model and ever so loving human being. I loved the fact that she was always honest and careing with her grandkids and would do anything and everything for us. My bros and I were very lucky to have our grandparents in our lives as some of my cousins' did not get to share in the love that we received. However, at the same time I am so glad that my bros and I got to see our other grandparents in India last spring and had a chance to reconnect. I love them dearly and look forward to their phone calls and to hear their voice. Hopefully, I'll be able to visit them again soon before they both leave this world as well. Life is funny that way eh....

Well as I look back I know that my granny is looking down on us and smiling right now. I'm glad that she is no longer suffering like she did for the last couple of years of her life. She led a full one and no one could ask for anything more. Cheers to you Biji love you lots and miss you much more.

Isn't it funny that when things are going great in your life, lets say in one area that the same luck/karma/kismet channels over to other areas in your life? Or is it just that you find yourself in a good place and your overall attitude and aura changes about yourself? What is it about the power of perception, love, friendship and companionship that does that? Is it that we allow our barriers and walls to come down and open up our souls to something that is great then us as human beings? I think its true that when your in a good place in your life, your world, life and being just changes for the better. I do hope that all of you are keeping well and that your lives are going forth as so called planned. I know that you can't plan tomorrow but can only look back at yesterday to compare. Even when comparing note or accept that you have what you need in life - your health, family, friends and your overall life. Some people are not even fortunate enough to have food to eat and here we are living in utter excess and wanting more and more. I think that living with your basic means is hubling and something that we should all strive for (says the girl that loves her shoes and bags!) I guess what I'm trying to say is accept what you have and enrich your life with friends and family and try to fullfil your needs that way...yes eaiser said then done! So look forward and not back, get rid of your baggage, drama and negativity and just smile cause you never know when it will all be taken away from you. Cause as easliy as it comes into your life it can be over so be real and feel real and love for real. Oh lordy what side of the bed did I wake up today on? Anywho, I just thought that I would ramble and rant a bit cause I haven't in a while and I'm sure my fans have been wanting more then my usual cut and paste commentary. More later when I feel the time is right to dig deeper in to my soul - the abyis that it is!

Finally my prayers have been answered hehe and No Doubt is hitting the road and going on tour. I would have loved for them to have dropped an album but hey them singing and tearing up the stage with the old stuff is just fine by me! I HEART Gwen Stefani - ever since I heard the song "Don't Speak"! I ran out and bought their album and many others after that. Along with Gwen's solo albums and watching her in concert - le sigh!

Oscar night at the "here" household!

The 81st Oscars took over the airwaves last night and as tradition as it my parents and I watched them attentively until the last credit rolled. Heck my dad even watched the pre Oscar red carpet and smiled when his favorites Sophia Loren (va va voom at 74!) and Anthony Hopkins talked to the reporters! I found the show to be uber long - 4 hours now really? But enjoyable with the song and dance of super duper host Hugh Jackman - dreamy! gotta give kudos to Ann Hawaway with her intro song also where she did great - the girl has a voice! I also loved the way that they presnted the oscars to the actors with past winners introducing each one (thanks Trola!). Well the real winner of the night was Slumdog Millionaire that racked up eight Academy Awards, including those for Best Picture and for its Director, Danny Boyle and not to forget two awards for A.R Rahman! Bollywood took over Hollywood and put itself on the map - Jai Ho!!!! The most anticipated award of the night, was for Best Supporting Actor with Heath Ledger winning it for his role as the joker - now really did anyone have a chance in this category at all! Not to take away from them but there is that sense of paying respects if you will...

Ahh so another year and another Valentines day - Happy Birthday Cupid! So as the story goes - I had the most precious Valentines day surprise this year. Came home from work on Thursday to see a cute little envelope waiting to be opened, as it was sent by the most precious little baby Roonie! As I opened it, to my surprise and awe was the cutest of cards...little Roonie doing his best sexy pose and asking to be my Valentine (well me and his auntie Ing and God mommy Vic, but it's ok I can share). Well Roonie I'm all yours hehe! Thanks Lena for the wonderful surprise....you rock!

Side note: GO WATCH Coraline in 3D! This movie brought back so many great childhood memories of going to the movies and sitting there in awe! The movie is an animated stop-motion horror fantasy film in 3D son! It is sick and so entertaining that you escape the ho hums of today and are taken to a far away place! Chin gave it a 9/10 and I co-sign that endorsement : Chin's Review

In case you didn't know I heart the Rubik's Cube - why you ask? Because it is multidimensional like myself! There is no wrong or right way to solve it, you just have to keep trying until you get it right. Funny story one of my buddies in college gave me that name maybe cause my first name is sort of similar but more or less because I have many sides (to my personality I'm guessing).

Rubik's Cube Erno Rubik to release Rubik's 360
THE man who invented Rubik's Cube almost 30 years ago has come up with a maddening new challenge.

Rubik's 360 involves moving plastic balls through a set of transparent spheres.

Prof Erno Rubik, 64, a reclusive Hungarian, said the new puzzle was as good as his original cube.

"The 360 is one of the most innovative and exciting puzzles we've developed since the cube, adopting elements of my original design, challenging the solver to use skill, dexterity and logic."

The Rubik's Cube was invented in 1974, but was not released until 1980 when it became a phenomenon. Sales have risen again in recent years with internet tutorials helping to revive interest.

Fans of the original are eagerly awaiting the launch of the new puzzle.

The Rubik's Cube world champion is Dutch teenager Eric Akkersdijk, who completed the puzzle in just 7.08 seconds.

The slowest Cube solver is believed to be Graham Parker, 45, from Portchester, Hampshire, in England.

He finished this year after 26 years.

The Rubik's 360 goes on sale later this year.

My cousin and I embarked on our adventure at 4am to make our way to Sin city - note that over the next 3 days we only got 15 hours of sleep, but boy was it worth it. Highlights of the trip was going to The Gun Store and shooting a mp5 which is a sub machine gun. Damn that was one experience I will never forgot and another check mark on my things to do in life ha ah - where's that grenade launcher at? We did have video and pics but we forgot the camera on the plane and are *crossing our fingers* that the mofo that found it will return it - le sigh! Anywho, the rest of the trip included checking out the hotels, shopping till my visa was burning hot, gambling - a whole $2, people watching, dancing till the cows came home and some other stuff that I will leave to your imagination...juicy stuff even for me!

If you ever get the chance to go to Vegas just GO! Till next time Las Vegas....

At Last covered by Beyonce (Etta James) is one of my all time favorite songs. Le sigh - Beyonce looked stunning, sang like a dream and made the moment ever so memorable. It was like Barak and Michelle were the only ones in the room, but it was ackward that they did the dance on stage with everyone looking up. I would have preferred that they did the dance in a traditional banquet setting but this ball "the Neighbourhood Ball" was one for the people. I loved Michelle's gown, it very much suited her and she looked great! For my fashionistas: it is a white chiffon, one-shoulder gown covered in fluffy appliques and beading designed by 26-year-old Jason Wu.

The President's words were poignant and for the people. It was a call for change and mission to move forward and onwards. This jab at Bush made me smile "Recall that earlier generations faced down fascism and communism not just with missiles and tanks, but with sturdy alliances and enduring convictions. They understood that our power alone cannot protect us, nor does it entitle us to do as we please. Instead, they knew that our power grows through its prudent use; our security emanates from the justness of our cause, the force of our example, the tempering qualities of humility and restraint." hear hear!

Lastly, it was not what was said in his speech but the person that delivered the message. Food for thought!

Yes folks I bet you are all glued to your telly's right about now. Well we are watching a live feed off of CNN on a full set up at work (ops did I just type that). There is a buzz in the air at work today, everyone is on edge and excited and just plain old happy for some good old 'change' in the world.

I wish Mister Obama all of the strength, courage and ability to lead the worlds most powerful nations into the right direction for the world and most importantly for the people. He is a man of the people and for the people. Everyone is waiting to see the change that he will bring to Washington DC and to the greater good of mankind. Those are some huge shoes to fill but I think that if he takes some smart, calculated baby steps he can achieve greatness.

Here is a first look at the Whitehouse's new first couple.
Oh yes commmentary about Michelle's outift by designer Isabel Toledo for you fashionista's out there. An interesting choice of color - Gold. No visible bling (aka diamonds and pearls)which was on purpose due to the economic criss, except the collar of her sweater/top. Not a fan of her emerald green shoes, I find them distracting. She is no Jackie O but I do hope that she finds a sytlist to show us what she can do on the world stage of first wifes fashion club.

My fellow citizens:

I stand here today humbled by the task before us, grateful for the trust you have bestowed, mindful of the sacrifices borne by our ancestors. I thank President Bush for his service to our nation, as well as the generosity and cooperation he has shown throughout this transition.

Forty-four Americans have now taken the presidential oath. The words have been spoken during rising tides of prosperity and the still waters of peace. Yet, every so often, the oath is taken amidst gathering clouds and raging storms. At these moments, America has carried on not simply because of the skill or vision of those in high office, but because We the People have remained faithful to the ideals of our forebearers, and true to our founding documents.

So it has been. So it must be with this generation of Americans.

That we are in the midst of crisis is now well understood. Our nation is at war, against a far-reaching network of violence and hatred. Our economy is badly weakened, a consequence of greed and irresponsibility on the part of some, but also our collective failure to make hard choices and prepare the nation for a new age. Homes have been lost; jobs shed; businesses shuttered. Our health care is too costly; our schools fail too many; and each day brings further evidence that the ways we use energy strengthen our adversaries and threaten our planet.

These are the indicators of crisis, subject to data and statistics. Less measurable but no less profound is a sapping of confidence across our land -- a nagging fear that America's decline is inevitable, and that the next generation must lower its sights.

Today I say to you that the challenges we face are real. They are serious and they are many. They will not be met easily or in a short span of time. But know this, America: They will be met.

On this day, we gather because we have chosen hope over fear, unity of purpose over conflict and discord.

Happy New Year everyone! As another passes and a new one begins I will continue my blogging journey and give you a piece of my inner being and quirkiness. My need to get thoughts on paper (or screen if you will) is one that is very therapeutic and always will be. So sit back, read, smile, laugh and of course roll your eyes and remember to leave a comment because I love to read your thoughts as well.

My buddy Puleen just revamped his blog and as I perused his site I came across a post on motivation speeches - Steve Jobs and Randy Pausch (my previous blog post after reading his book) . The following quotes from Steve Job's speech just hit a cord within me and as stuff like this always does - education, passion, finding your true calling, life and death - Steve's speech hit all of them and naturally I had to blog.

Quotes from Steve Jobs Commencement speech at Stanford in 2005.

"You can't connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backwards. So you have to trust that the dots will somehow connect in your future. You have to trust in something - your gut, destiny, life, karma, whatever. This approach has never let me down, and it has made all the difference in my life."

This first quote well it is obvious isn't it, hindsight is always 20/20. But in the moment you have no idea if whatever you are doing, choosing etc will ever work or be in your favor. With that, sometimes you just have to go with the flow, the wind or whatever inner voice inside you and trust it to the fullest and know that things will be ok. I think that is called hope with a little bit of faith. Even if you do not believe in God (which is bullocks because in order not to believe in God you need to believe in God right - catch 22) So yeah believe in your own magic because there some greater force out there looking out for you, if not today, or tomorrow but some day in the future.

"The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven't found it yet, keep looking. Don't settle. As with all matters of the heart, you'll know when you find it. And, like any great relationship, it just gets better and better as the years roll on. So keep looking until you find it. Don't settle."

This second quote just floors because it hits the nail on the head (sorry really bad pun hehe). Of course you have to love what you do or you will be miserable. Case and point before going back to school full time I was getting very bored at work - not because I thought that I was the shit that knew everything but I was not being challenged in the way that I needed to. My answer was to leave and go into a fresh new setting the academic one and get that wind back inside me to move me in a way that nothing else could in my life. Yes I have a great family and set of friends but they can only do so much, its you that has to look yourself in the mirror and see what you really want. Trust me each and every one of us knows what we want at the end of the - the only trouble is to go and get it. Same goes with the heart, follow it, let loose of all of your inhibitions and just really feel what life, love and caring can bring to your life...easier said then done, yes! Hence, my quest to find it and never settle until I do.

"No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don't want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life's change agent."

The third quote is yet again another crowd pleaser eh! Why is it that a lot of people are afraid to talk about death, it is the only thing that is guaranteed with life isn't it (well taxes also but that is another can of worms). I'm very much afraid of death - because I can not wrap my head around the thought of never being on Earth ever! I've blogged about it numerous times ( here and here and always had more questions then answers but I guess it is that type of topic. I think that we fear death so much is because we have not seen the world, been able to do what we have always wanted, loved the way we wanted to etc, that is why we must all live in the present and not live for the future. Don't let today slip you by....

So it begins again - as another year approaches us, we think back and say "where the eff did 2k8 go". Yes it was a blur but a great one at that, so many things occurred this year with friends and family - that I had to go back and re-read my monthly calenders to remember everything exactly as it was that day. Here is a quick highlight to the past and a shout out to the future:

- Graduating from Rye!
- Bro graduating from Sheridan
- My modeling stint for my buddy - oh what a camera ho I am!
- Partying it up wayyyyyyyyy to much this summer but enjoying each night out as it just brings back the memories of tearing up the dance floor - ah you only live once
- meeting new friends and realizing which ones are here to stay and which ones are just there
- learning how to finally swim - properly that is and to also swim in the deep end without fearing for my life
- spending a month in the motherland with my family - especially my grandparents xoxo
- celebrating the birth of two wonderful babies - Lena's son and M&S's daughter!
- all the dirty 30 birthday's this year - yippee finally you'll have reached a milestone
- purchases of houses and move ins - congrats CathyAl & M&B
- numerous sleepovers with my rugrats - I love those kids
- tons of diners and outings with friends - memories that will last a lifetime - seeing old grade school friends, high school friends to bff's
- watching and blogging about the Bejing Olympics
- Bumping into Zac Efron and Tie Domie - Rocks has the pics on her camera STILL
- Obama was voted in as president elect - the world stopped and smiled (superhighlight)
- getting tickets to the 2010 Winter Olympics - getting my snow pants ready!

What I am looking forward to in the new year:
- Another year of antics and fun filled nights with my peeps and being free on the dance floor - I swear that I was a dancer or a dj in a past life!
- Having more bump in's with celebrities - funny how I can spot them everywhere, its an art after reading way too many gossip blogs!
- watching the little ones grow and reach their first b-days - everyone now "ahhh"
- hosting more parties
- travel travel travel - got a little pick me up planned for January! Umm Euro trip that has been a long time coming hopefully in May and Cali in July for my cousins wedding - I think that will be the highlight of the summer!
- swimming swimming and more swimming - I'm gonna get as far as I can with my skills and save a life one day hehe
- re focus on my career and figure out what I really want to be when I grow up - that is a work in progress still
- I'm sure there are million other things to add to this list but I'm at a stand still right now....

Yeah one of those where I go off on a tangent or have a really heart felt post because I need to divulge what is going deep down inside. Well as 2k8 rolls to an end and as we look forward to a new year....there are many questions that are still unanswered or remain open ended. Such as when will I, will I ever, what will the new year bring to me, how will I survive another year, what is wrong with me why can't I? Well there are no definite answers really just experiences and paths that we cross as we try to answer such questions. Don't look at what you don't have but what you have right now in this moment. You've got your sight (cause you're bloody reading this post I hope), your sense of humor (as you think to yourself "Rubes is a real nut), your health (as you crack a smile and break out in a small chuckle), your hearing (as you continue to laugh at the sounds of your chuckle)...you get the point. Be merry, happy and joyous to have everything in your life and do not look at what is not potentially there. As we grow older we tend to want bigger and better things in life, be it marriage, a child or a new spanking ride - I think that God has a bigger plan for us all, it is just time that will show us what it us. Wait for that blue print to unfold and take it in stride.

The Key to My Heart - Snow

Tee hee that was such a play on words - Lena!

Well as I sit here at work watching the snow drift down and blow every which way - it comes to mind that yes this is a part of the Canadian lifestyle! We are expected as Canadians to endure and enjoy this type of whether. I love snow and rain - I don't know what it is about nature but there is something that connects me to it and always has. Be it mother natures wickedly insane strength to move earth or to be as gentle as possible such as a warm summers breeze. I guess you should all just take it in stride and not complain because Mother Nature is going to win each and every time. Queue in Global Warming - but that is another beast to talk about in itself. So yes, be safe and be prepared for the worse but also see the humour in things and notice how a little snow can damper an adults day but make a child's the biggest and brightest one to date. Go back to the days when you made snow people outside and snow angels and did not come in for hours making that fort on your front lawn.
Cheers and enjoy the weather because it could always be a lot worse then it is....

I can swim back and forth and have the strength and confidence to know that I will not drown. Thanks to Rocks for always believing in me and even coming to my swimming class and seeing my improvment over the past 13 weeks. I am so excited to start my next session in the new year....watch out Michael Phleps there is a new fish in town.

Vancouver 2010

Read em and weep peeps! I have scored 8 tickets to the 2010 games in the wonderful province of BC. Yes sir, yes sir I will be in attendance with my Olympic game gear on - hooting and hollering all of the athletes on. In case you did not know I am a huge Olympics fan, be it summer or winter. Case and point I watched practically all of the Beijing Olympics this summer and blogged about a lot of the events. This opportunity is a once in a lifetime chance and I thought - "hey why not", "let's see if I get lucky" and score some tickets through the lottery they had set up for Canadians. YESSSSS for once in my life I actually won something fair and square! I can't wait to be in Vancouver, Whistler, Richmond and West Vancouver!

I scored two tickets to the following events:
Mogals
Alpine skiing
Luge
Skelton
Curling
Speed skating - team
Speed skating - finals
Freestyle skiing

Too bad I did not score tickets for the Hockey events as I did dare to pick the Men's finals tickets - wow were they ever pricey - but hey you only live once right...so enjoy each moment as it comes into your life fully. I can't remember if the events were men's or woman's cause the site has had to many hits for the priority access period. This is another opportunity for people that were signed up for the lottery and want more tickets. The site is actually stopping the priority ticket selection due to "overwhelming demand" a week before it is supposed to be over. Wow that is nuts...they only had it open for a couple of days - I guess all the allotted tickets have been snatched up. The next opportunity for Canadians is mid Feb 2009 and I think in the summer of 2009 the ticketing opens up for Internationally. Wow this is going to be great I can't wait to mix and mingle with people from all over the world!

Ok will calm down now and take a deep breathe and start planning my 2010 adventure...I should have signed up to volunteer at the games...urgg!

RIP Black Cat

Ahh my heart is just torn up inside as we saw a cat get run over. As most of you know that I'm a vegetarian and the main reason that I chose to be one was because animals do not have a voice. They are unable to share their emotions or feelings verbally, yes they do cry, whimper, play and snuggle or even rip apart animals with their raw emotion but they are unable to express themselves fully. And for that reason I thought that I would eliminate myself from that equation and just give an animal another chance or lease on life....

Now back to the cat....on my way home from the GO station just now, my dad and I saw a driver hit a poor cat trying to cross the crowded intersection (good old construction is going on in our neighborhood). Would it have hurt the car to stop or even slow down! Well the poor cat got hit and was lying there but had managed to lift its head and start to stretch its legs. Inside I was like "yippie you still have a chance" as I carefully watched. But as we waited for the traffic to go my dad and I watched a trans wheel bus (the irony) continued to go forward without slowing down (even though the cars ahead of the bus had clearly managed to swerve by the cat and slowed down) and ran the cat over again! My dad and I both gasped as the cat died. As we drove by my heart just fell into my stomach and it started to churn. I cannot stomach any human or animal being hurt or killed, it is just too hard to handle. The cat died and its blood spread onto the street along with its brains (sorry a bit graphic but I love anatomy). I guess it was the cat's time to go. The moral of the story - stop eating poor animals (I kid that is a personal choice) but please do slow down, as someone probably just lost their pet.

Bombay lights no longer....

11/26 is a date not to be forgotten - Mumbai aka Bombay (I heart this city) has been under attack since yesterday. A lot of people have called it a microcosm of 9/11. True that planes did not bomb buildings, however, guns and bombings caused the same devastation. They hit hard where it would hurt the country worst - it's financial and entertainment capital. I'm numbed by the events that have taken place over the last 48 hours. Seeing sharp shooters and snipers you thought that you were watching a well played out movie. Seeing the images of young terrorists wheeling guns while charging into 5 star hotels, back packer hotels, a cafe, a railway station and a Jewish Center has left an impact. Why does it home so hard? because there is a personal connection - be it friends that have family and loved ones in that city, and moreover, because I have been to these places personally. During my '04 trip to India I was so eager to see the city of lights, glamor and entertainment. Who hasn't seen or heard of Bollywood, but to actually walk the streets - take pics of the Oberoi hotel and drool over the Taj Hotel (where the doorman was so adorable in his Rajistani garb) while going to the Gateway of India and over on a ferry to the Elephant Island - is still replaying in my head over and over again. That trip was once in a lifetime opportunity and I do hope that I do make it back. Do not take this attack lightly - this is one that has impacted India's democracy to the core. However, do not let it deter you from going to the most amazing place on this planet - India. Like I have blogged before - this is the only country on the earth that shakes and moves you to your core. I have not ever been so affected by a country, city, or people before. I know that Bombay will dust off the dirt and triumph through all of the chaos and turmoil and be more stronger by it. Here's to hope that I make it back to the motherland a 7th time and absorb more of what is one of the greatest places on this planet. Keeping hope and sending prayers to all of those affected by this atrocious event.

No Doubt just released a promo pic for their next album! OMG OMG OMG I have loved Gwen and the boys since their OC days when they were just a ska band singing "you and me....." le sigh I still heart that song!

I can not wait to see them in concert.
They are pegged at releasing the album in 2k9....the band released this new promo picture on their official website, and also has a scrolling IM chat between all of the band mates - Gwen Stefani, Tom Dumont, Tony Kanal, Adrian Young.
